Launch of Atlantis, STS-132

A perfect day at the Kennedy Space Centre (KSC) for the launch of Atlantis on its final mission. We had an early 5:30am start from Orlando with lengthy queuing and waiting/roasting in the midday sun but we were rewarded with the on schedule lift-off of Atlantis at 14:20.

Fantastic! Oh so worth it and I'm already counting down to the last shuttle launch in November :-).

This set of exposures were taken from The Causeway at KSC, 6 miles from the launch pad, using a Canon 40D + Canon 400mm F5.6L
The second shot in each case is merely a digital zoom of the first...
